THE SHOW               Legendary rock band The Who will be back on the road for their UK 2023 tour ‘The Who Hits Back!’ with a live orchestra. They will be playing in Hull, Edinburgh, London, Derby, Badminton, Durham, St Helens and Brighton from 6th-23rd July. Joining them will be UB40 featuring Ali Campbell across all shows except London & Edinburgh. The band are set to perform music from throughout their nearly 60-year career, including sections devoted to classic albums Tommy & Quadrophenia as well as other beloved Who songs.

Parking                      Parking can be purchased at the time of booking for £15.  Any spaces left of the day will be charged at £20.  Please book in advance to ensure your space.  See below for further details.

Ticket Despatch        You will receive an email confirmation at the time of booking.  THIS IS NOT YOUR TICKET.  Your tickets will be sent to the same email address at a later date and no later than 4 weeks before the event.

                                                If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact the agent who you purchased your ticket(s) from.


  • We regret that exchanges and refunds are not available, except in the unlikely event that the concert is cancelled and an alternative date is not available


  • If there are tickets available, the Box Office at the venue will be open from 9:00am on the day of the concert. Tickets will be priced higher on the day.


  • We advise that the event may not be suitable for young children, especially those under 2 years of age. However, if you do arrive with a non-ticketed child under 2 years old, please report to the box office where an attendant will provide a complimentary ticket.  You will need to purchase a ticket for all children 2 years and older.  Buggies may not be permitted.  Necessary care bags will be permitted, but please be advised that additional security checks may take place.

  • There are no child discounts.

  • Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult 18+


  • Car Parks – 3:00pm

  • Box Office – 9:00am

  • Gates will open at 4:30pm

  • Please enter by the gates indicated by your tickets following the venue signage and/or instructions from the stewards. Your Block, Row and Seat number will be indicated on your ticket.

  • Please allow plenty of time for your journey and for parking and transfer, as well as getting to your seat

  • Last entry into the concert will be 8:00pm

  • The concert will end at approximately 10:30pm

  • The venue will be operating a no re-entry policy. Once you have entered the venue you cannot exit and re-enter


  • Accessibility Tickets

    • A complimentary carer ticket is available under certain circumstances and on provision of “proof of disability”. Such proof shall include:

      • Receipt of Higher rate of Disability Living Allowance (mobility or care component)

      • Receipt of Enhanced rate PIP (Personal Independence Payment)

      • A personal letter from your GP explaining that support is required and why

    • Assistance Dogs

      • Assistance Dogs are allowed into the stadium but please advise the venue at least seven days before the concert

      • Please ensure you purchase a ticket at the end of a row to allow your Assistance Dog to sit beside you

      • Due reference will be given to all aspects of safety and guidance from Guide Dogs for the Blind to ensure safety within the Stadium

    • Accessible Parking

      • Blue Badge Holders (BBH) can purchase a Blue Badge Parking Permit in advance, which enables them to park in the red spectator spaces nearest Seat Unique Riverside

    • Accessible Toilet Facilities

      • There are specially adapted toilets located in the venue. Each of these toilets is alarmed

      • If you experience any problems with the use of the accessible toilets, please contact the nearest steward


Arriving By Car

  • Seat Unique Riverside is located less than one mile from Chester-le-Street front street, four miles outside Durham and ten miles from Newcastle upon Tyne


  • Car parking passes can be purchased in advance from the Durham Box Office priced at £15. Please follow this link

  • it is not recommended that you try to park in the residential areas around Durham Cricket

  • All vehicle parking is on the understanding that Durham Cricket accepts no responsibility in respect of loss or damage to vehicles, the contents, or any injury to the occupant/s or any person visiting the car park. All vehicle parking is subject to Durham Cricket’s terms and conditions and is subject to availability



  • Chester-le-Street station is served by three train operating companies. Northern Rail, CrossCountry & First TransPennine all run regular services from local & regional destinations. On busy match days, additional stops are made by trains at Chester-le-Street

  • Please note East Coast services from Edinburgh and London are unable to call at Chester-le-Street: the nearest stop for East Coast is Durham

  • A shuttle bus service may be available from Durham Railway Station to and from Seat Unique Riverside. Please check details closer to the event


  • There is an extensive local bus network operating to and from Chester-le-Street. Routes north / south from Newcastle to several destinations (e.g. Durham, Bishop Auckland), and east / west (e.g. Sunderland, Consett).

  • The nearest Chester-le-Street has to a Bus Station is the Market Place where the bus stops have real time information (10 – 15 minute walk to The Riverside). However, the Market Place is not the nearest bus stop to The Riverside.  The closest stops to Seat Unique Riverside are two stops further south of the Market Place – at the Black Horse (for buses in both directions, north and south, a 5 – 10 minute walk to Seat Unique Riverside).

  • Use Go North East’s Journey Planner via their website to plan your bus route to Seat Unique Riverside.


  • If you live locally or are arriving at Chester-le-Street Market Place or the Railway Station you could walk to Seat Unique Riverside.

  • From Chester le Street Market Place to Seat Unique Riverside is a 15 – 20-minute walk, while the walk from Chester-le-Street Railway Station is around a 15 – 20-minute walk.

  • The pedestrian route is well signposted.


  • Metro can provide transport for part of a journey for those who are travelling from Tyne and Wear. Visit Nexus’ website for more information.


  • Taxis are available in Chester le Street Market Place, Bus and Railway Station. There are Taxi telephone numbers in the Reception at Seat Unique Riverside

Park and Ride

  • For the concert there will be Park and Ride sites in operation. Further details will be available closer to the event

  • A fee of £4 return is payable on getting on to the P&R bus

Car Sharing

  • Don’t travel by yourself – travel with friends! Only pay for one car parking space.

Provision for Blue Badge Holders

  • For big events, Blue Badge Holders (BBH) can purchase a Blue Badge Parking Permit in advance, which enables them to park in the red spectator spaces nearest Seat Unique Riverside.

Drop Off and Pick up Point

  • Seat Unique Riverside has a designated drop-off and pick-up point for all cars and taxis.

  • A road closure may be in place on B1284 Rotary Way immediately play finishes. It is advisable for vehicles to be at the pick-up point approximately 15 minutes before close of play.  All vehicles must turn left when exiting from the pick-up point.

  • Details regarding road closures for major events will be made available on the Durham Cricket website around 2-3 weeks prior to the event taking place.

  • Please be aware that people may stand up around you within the seats

  • Please note the pitch / floor seating is not tiered

  • Filming and flash photography is prohibited during the concert

  • Any cameras that are deemed ‘professional’ will be confiscated until the end of the concert


  • Do keep your belongings with you at all times

  • Do allow ample time to take advantage of the toilet facilities

  • Do bring clothing appropriate to the weather conditions

  • Do put any rubbish in the bins provided for you

  • Your bags will be checked and you may be subject to a search on entry to the stadium. This is for everyone’s safety and we ask that you remain patient and co-operate with security staff

  • We search everyone entering the venue and employ a range of other security measures in and around the site, some of which may not be visible

  • Each member of staff is here to ensure your comfort and safety. They have all been briefed to keep an eye open for anything unusual

  • Please arrive in good time as our enhanced security measures may mean that it might take a little longer to get into the venue

  • In order to make the screening process go as smoothly as possible, please keep all personal items to a minimum. Only small handbags and shoulder bags will be allowed into the venue

  • Please note that there will NOT be a luggage storage or cloakroom facility at the venue

  • The use of threatening behaviour, foul or abusive language is strictly forbidden and will result in arrest and/or ejection from the Ground
