The Velveteen Orkestra is a band that effortlessly blends rich romanticism with a raw intensity, creating a sound that both swoons and unsettles. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Neil Young, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, and Radiohead, their music plucks at the heartstrings while keeping listeners on edge. Rooted in European folk and Americana, their songs embody a delicate balance of beauty and brutal honesty, often evoking a sense of deep emotion and subtle tension.


Formed in a shadowed corner of South London, The Velveteen Orkestra emerged from beneath the grey, brutalist towers of a district named after romantic poets. Their sound is savage yet elegant, animalistic yet noble – a reflection of their surroundings and a celebration of the contradictions that fuel their music. Fronted by Dan Shears, whose voice recalls the heart-wrenching delivery of Jeff Buckley, the band’s pulsating live shows captivate audiences with their brooding intensity and unexpected humour, making each performance a truly immersive experience.
