Sivu has announced a gigantic UK headline tour for 2015, which will span February and March in support of his debut studio album 'Something On High'.
Sivu, born James Page, is a 25-year-old singer songwriter who crafts ethereal, haunting pop songs. Soon to release his third single, Sivu has already recorded a session for fashion brand Burberry, and will support new British indie stars London Grammar on their UK tour later this month.
Born in Cambridge but presently working in a call centre in Waterloo, 24-year-old Sivu assimilates an unusual mix of sounds and textures. His biggest influences are the lilting melodies of Frank Sinatra, the left-field pop of Bjork or Wild Beasts, and particularly Beck a singer and songwriter who nonetheless doesn't suit the singer-songwriter" tag, as Sivu's own intricate but ambitious sound is a testament to. 'Better Man Than He' blends dreamy acoustics and subtle electronic touches into a sound that befits Sivu's idiosyncratic moniker (it's his surname Page - in Finnish).
Sivu’s vulnerable, distinctive falsetto brings to mind British singer Jack Steadman from Bombay Bicycle Club, while his open-hearted lyrics could be compared to those of Ryan Adams. His quirky sound and production methods attempt to recreate the inventiveness of musicians like Beck and Bjork, whom he says “flip songwriting on its head”. His first single, Better Man Than He, for instance, is a quietly uplifting track with a pulsing piano riff, which he recorded inside an MRI scanner, while his last release, Bodies, delicately blends synths, spoken word samples and off-kilter percussion into something serene and melodious.
