Amir Mohamed el Khalifa was born in Washington DC. Growing up he was influenced by the soul played to him by his father and the rap music loved by his friends. He showed early promise as an MC Producer working in the analog basement of his neighbour Garry Shider, member of the legendary Parliament Funkadelic.

He became a part of Low Budget Crew which also included fellow D.C. area MC and producers Kenn Starr, Cy Young, and Kev Brown. He was also instrumental in the formation of Hip Hop group The Diamond District which saw him unite with Uptown XO and yU The 78er. Amir turned down a place at the Art Institute of Philadelphia to study the visual arts to pursue his career in music instead.

LA based band Moonchild is the work of multi-instrumentalists Amber Navran, Max Bryk, and Andris Mattson. Their previous work includes the albums Please Rewid and Be Free which has marked them by their peers and the music press as the ones to watch.

Their most recent record is titled Voyager which is released at the end of the month. It sees them explore soul and new-school jazz, promising to be one of the most exciting new albums of the year.
