Additional information

Join Nottingham Poetry Society as they host their debut Writing Social here at Nottingham Central Library, in celebration of Nottingham Poetry Festival 2025.

With the library rooted in the heart of Nottingham’s Broad Marsh—a landscape rich with natural history and renewal—it feels only right that this poetry workshop draws inspiration from the natural world around us. Led by Nottingham’s very first Young Poet Laureate, Georgina Wilding, the session will include:

  • Attendees reading a favourite nature themed poem by a poet they love

  • Writing activities on the theme of nature poetry guided by Georgina

  • Attendees sharing some of their first drafts with the group

  • Informal discussion about Nottingham Poetry Society and how to join / Notts Poetry scene and what's coming up!

If you'd like to join us, simply book your place, find a nature poem you enjoy to bring along, and we'll see you there. Happy Nottingham Poetry Festival! To learn more about Nottingham Poetry Society head to: https://nottinghampoetrysociety.wordpress.com/meetings/ Poets who have written something they'd like to perform are also invited to read at the brilliant Heartwood Poetry Event at Nottingham Playhouse on the 19th June from 6.30pm - slots are limited so please liaise with NPS to sign up.
