Santas Grotto at Newstead Christmas, Newstead Abbey, Ravenshead - 15th December 2018
On a bitter winter day we arrived for our prebooked visit to Santa. Not well signposted where he was but we found him in a building round the side. We were welcomed by his helper and taken straight in. Two children aged 4 and 6. The 6 year old had written 3 lists. Not that he was asking for lots, just that he likes writing! Santa read them all then told him where the postbox was. Santa chatted to them both, gave them advice about being asleep and identical presents of a selection box and a selection of puzzles.
We had bought tickets for the adults to go in the house. I was amazed that there was a craft area for the children to make a tree decoration, a room where they could handle and use toys and two rooms where they could read books as well as a Hall where they could dress up. All this on top of rooms decorated in the themes of traditional tales and a young man singing. Well done Newstead

Christmas at Newstead - A Storybook Tale, Newstead Abbey, Ravenshead - 1st December 2018
A wonderful day at Newstead Abbey. The rooms were charming and the extra touches like the amazing singer and other staff really added to the experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas tea in the Victorian kitchen.
It was not too busy so we could see everything-a real gem!

Christmas at Newstead Abbey, Newstead Abbey, Ravenshead - 17th December 2017
The Abbey and the decorations were beautiful but we expected an event. The advert said carol singers but it was just walking around the house which we have done before. The children’s crafts were nice and Father Christmas was very good but the gift for £5 was very disappointing and could not cost more than £1 per child. We then couldn’t get into the gardens so it was an expensive and short afternoon!
