Performing Artists

Merseyside oddball rabble-rousers and recent Are You Listening? Festival act Her's return to Reading.

Snappy guitar lines and sleazy vocals continue the pair's rollicksome reign as Liverpool’s answer to Ariel Pink or Mac Demarco. It’s a return to their 80s jangle pop, slack art rock origins, calling to mind early material like ‘Dorothy’, ‘Speed Racer’ and ‘What Once Was’ to ultimately reassert the curious oddball mythos that made the duo so magnetic in the first place.

They’ve been met with a glowing reception from Radio 1, 6Music, DIY, The Guardian, FADER, Stereogum, NME, The Line of Best Fit and Dork, and conquered a respectable chunk of the global circuit already through shows at Visions, Green Man, The Great Escape, SXSW and Bangkok. Her’s next spate of touring will see them hit the road throughout the nation, after playing a sold-out London show at Moth Club earlier in May, before slots at Citadel, Leopallooza, Neighbourhood Festival, Tramlines capping it all off with an Autumn headline tour.

“Kind of like what would happen if The Strokes went to the beach for the summer” – FADER

“There’s something instantly charismatic about Her’s which proves pivotal.. It takes their jangly, oddball pop songs into another league” – DIY

“Luminous guitar lines, tremulous dissonant vocals and an arsenal of gorgeous indie pop melodies” – Guardian

South Street can be found on the south side of Reading town centre, on the corner of South Street and East Street, near The Oracle.
On Foot (from Reading Station);
At the station, walk down the new concourse to the Heathrow airbus exit and cross over the road to Blagrave Street, where you will see The Town Hall on the left. Go past this and through the pedestrianised The Town Hall Square and cross over by St Lawrence's church to the post office in the market place. Keeping to the left hand side of the Market Place, go down the hill to the traffic lights and cross straight over to Duke Street, over the river bridge, straight over the lights ahead and into London Street. First left up the hill is South Street, with the venue about one hundred metres on the left.

There is a limited amount of parking for patrons at the rear of the venue. This is free of charge. Queens Road public car park is a 2-3 minute walk from South Street.
