About Giorgio Moroder

Even if you think you’ve never heard of this legend of the music industry, you probably have. Donna Summer’s iconic songs ‘I Feel Love’ and the incredible ‘Love to Love You Baby’ are results of an epic collaboration between a remarkable singer and this master of disco. In fact, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to say that Giorgio Moroder invented Disco. And this year you have just one chance to catch the man himself in concert here in the UK.

Giorgio Moroder tour dates in the UK are limited to a single appearance at London’s KOKO on November 6th. We’re anticipating that the few tickets that are available will sell out, so fortunately at Gigantic we have a handful of Giorgio Moroder concert tickets available on a first come first served basis. But you will have to move quickly on these, as this man really is a legend and demand is going to be phenomenal for tickets.

Born in Ortisei, Italy, on April 26th 1940, Moroder started his musical career while still in his teens. His first forays into the scene was as a guitar player in a cover band that toured all over Europe. So from a very early age he realised how important live performance is to a musician’s career. After releasing a handful of singles under the name ‘Giorgio’, he moved into production as well as moving to Munich. In 1969 he released the album ‘Looky Looky’, a frothy, poppy album that was typical of the signature sound of the time. The crossover into Prog Rock from the bubblegum tunes of the ‘60s was taking hold, and it would appear that Moroder was out of step.

But this astute musician and producer, in partnership with musician Pete Bellotte, knew that music was going through a transitional stage in the early 1970s, and after some experimentation he finally hit on a winning formula. Today, we call that formula ‘Disco’, and it’s still as popular now as it was then.

After a considerable absence from the charts, Moroder has released not one but two albums in 2015, ‘Déjà-Vu’ and the well-received ’74 is the new 24’. To support these releases, he is also appearing live, and at Gigantic we’re certain that our Giorgio Moroder tickets will fly, so act now if you want to catch the man who invented Disco in his only UK date this year.
