Information

Performing Artists

  • Doors: 7:00pm
  • Begins: 7:30pm

"David Helfgott is performing something much more complicated than a piece of music. He is not just a pianist but an escape artist, and by giving people an opportunity to share in his triumph over adversity, however corny it may sound, he brings something different and edgy to the music." Guardian
David Helfgott brings his inimitable style of performing to Rachmaninov, Bach and Beethoven.
Helfgott has had a career-long relationship with Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto, and this performance presents a rare opportunity to hear it in its version for two pianos, also performed by Rhodri Clarke.
Helfgott's life inspired the Academy Award-winning film Shine (1996). He has triumphed over adversity to become one of the most successful pianists of his generation.
