Coves Cast A Shadow

About Coves

Coves combines the talents of Rebekah Wood (AKA Beck) and John Ridgard to produce music with a psychedelic edge that combines with a garage rock sound that encompasses sixties girl group vocals.

The Leamington Spa based pair formed the band in 2011 releasing a self-titled EP in August of the same year. The band followed up with a second EP in 2012 titled Cast A Shadow enabling the bandto catch the attention of James Endeacott who then joined their management team.

Their debut album Soft Friday album was written within the walls of an old abandoned building, taking less than a year to pen and was released through the German label Nettwerk in 2014.

Their new album Peel was released in April this year through Endeacott’s label 1965 Records. The ten track record was recorded with Cam Blackwood (Florence And The Machine, London Grammar, CSS and We Are Scientists) in Clapham.

We want everything to have more of a live feel and represent the progression we’ve made in the last two years,” says Beck, speaking about the album. “We’ve totally turned a corner. We’re the same people just stronger.

There’s a wonderful, drowsy, baggy-ness to their pace. Wood’s vocals come in mantras as if Ridgard has simply sampled a voice from some old psychedelic 60s record. ” - The Recommender

"They have something great
going on with nice production ideas complementing their sweet tunes.
” - Huw Stephens, writing in the NME

"A fantastic new band that I've fallen for. ” - Simon Raymonde, Bella Union/Amazing Radio
