If you'd like to be the first to know when new events are announced, you can follow Catrin Finch & Aoife Ni Bhriain below.
Dublin native Aoife Ní Bhriain is one of her generation’s most versatile and gifted violinists, a dazzling musician who commands both the classical world and her Irish traditional heritage. From across the Irish Sea and the west coast of Wales, harpist Catrin Finch has also built an impressive classical career and ventured into unchartered musical territory, most notably through her award-winning collaborations with Seckou Keita and Cimarrón.
Together, Aoife and Catrin form a formidable virtuoso duo, eager to explore a musical world of creative possibility, challenge and discovery, inspired by a multitude of influences and linked by the cultures of their home countries. Their debut public performances at Other Voices Cardigan in November 2022 drew rapturous audience acclaim. Their debut album releases on 27th October on the bendigedig label.
"Their formidable musical relationship… a moment of musical majesty" (Teddy Coward, WHY NOW)
Also performing on the night is folk singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Angeline Morrison. Her 2022 album The Sorrow Songs: Folk Songs of Black British Experience (Topic Records) was voted No. 1 Folk Album of the year in The Guardian. Angeline explores traditional song with a deep reverence, love and curiosity, a handmade sonic aesthetic and a feeling for the stories of ordinary human lives.
First half a mesmerising folky performance beautifully sung to an array of instruments by Angeline Morrison - songs given great context. Next CATRIN FINCH & AOIFE NI BHRIAIN further captivated the audience at Union Chapel with a wide-ranging succession of pieces blending harp with violin - simply stunning virtuosity and entertainment.
