Is ‘Electro-swing’ a thing? According to French band Caravan Palace, who have made this sound uniquely their own, it is " and it’s a pleasant change from the usual electro-funk and pop that dominates the music world at the moment. Drawing their influences from bands such as Daft Punk and Django Reinhardt, they’ve created a genre that fuses ultra-modern electronic music with a strong Jazz influence, which nods back to the café culture of their home city, Paris.

Sound’s complicated, but it really works, and now Caravan Palace are bringing their Gallic tones to the UK with a series of Caravan Palace tour dates as part of their European tour. They start of with a couple of festival appearances at the Wilderness Festival 2015 at Cornbury Park, Charlbury on 6th-9th August, and then the Boomtown Fair 2015, Winchester, on the 13th-16th August. They then head back over the channel for a while before returning to the UK on December 10th in Bristol, Glasgow on the 11th, Manchester on the 12th and Brighton on the 14th. They then play London Forum on the 15th and Norwich on the 16th.

Caravan Palace may not be well known in the UK yet, but if you grab Caravan Palace concert tickets from Gigantic you’ll be at the forefront of what is set to be a very appreciative British audience. Their unique style is cheerful, infinitely danceable and encourages audiences to have a good time with the emphasis on dancing along to their quirky, whimsical sound. But don’t be fooled " underneath that happy-go-lucky image are a group of seriously good musicians who have the ability to blend electronic technology with classical musical skills. Clarinets and trombones mix it up with vibraphones, violins and percussion, all perfectly merged using top-of-the-range mixing skills.

While Daft Punk may have set the trend with electronic jazz-funk, Caravan Palace have taken things a little further and introduced a real 1940s swing band sound that is in vogue right now. Caravan Palace are also having a lot of fun messing around with classic beats and stomping tunes that make you want to jitterbug like crazy, and that sense of mischief pulses through their music, especially during a live gig.

If you want to find out more about this distinctly French sound, grab Caravan Palace tickets from Gigantic now.
