The original line-up featured Billy Corgan (lead vocals, guitar), James Iha (guitar), D'arcy Wretzky (bass), and Jimmy Chamberlin (drums). Their debut album, Gish (1991), garnered critical acclaim, but it was their sophomore release, Siamese Dream (1993), that propelled them to international fame with hits like 'Today' and 'Disarm'.
In 1995, the band released the double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and included iconic tracks such as "1979" and "Bullet with Butterfly Wings".
