About Richmond Fontaine

Richmond Fontaine have announced their send-off tour. The alternative country folk rockers have announced their last few dates before bidding a fond farewell to their fans. Ending on a real high, the tour follows the release of their new album You Can’t Go Back If There’s Nothing To Go Back To.

The band formed in 1994 out of the conversations held by vocalist and songwriter Willy Vlautin and bassist Dave Hardin between races at the Portland Meadows horse track. Having discussed a shared love of Husker Du, Willie Nelson and the Replacements the pair began to play music together before developing into a full band. The band produced three excellent albums over the course of the nineties.

The subsequent decade saw the band produce albums that were considered masterpieces by the press. Stripping down their sound to make their music set around an acoustic sound and lyrics taking a more introspective path, the downbeat stark nature of the songs struck a chord with audiences and critics alike.

Their tenth album, You Can’t Go Back If There’s Nothing To Go Back To will be their last. Recorded and produced in Portland by Oregon producer John Askew (who has worked with Corin Tucker Band, The Dodos, House Of Wolves and Wild Flag) the album sees the band develop revealing the depth of Vlautin’s song writing talents and lyrical skill.

Speaking about the final record, Vlautin says “This record was written for all the guys we know who have hit the wall, are about to hit the wall, or are in the middle of slamming into it, It’s a record about paying the price for the way one’s lived. All of us in RF are at the age where the bill starts coming due for the decisions we’ve made along the way.

Richmond Fontaine tickets are on sale through Gigantic.

The band will be playing a handful of dates to celebrate the end of their glorious career. Be sure to see them when they play at Hare And Hounds in Birmingham and Dingwalls in London.

Concert tickets can be bought online right now.

Rounding up the last performances in the UK, Richmond Fontaine will play Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff and The Garage in London.
