Lisa Knapp is a British folk singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for her innovative approach to traditional folk music. Blending ancient ballads with contemporary influences, she has established herself as one of the most distinctive voices in modern folk. Her debut album, Wild and Undaunted (2007), earned widespread acclaim, featuring standout tracks like “Blacksmith” and “Lavender Song.” She continued to push boundaries with Hidden Seam (2013), which showcased collaborations with artists such as Gerry Diver and Martin Carthy, and explored themes of nature, folklore and the sea. Her most recent work, Till April Is Dead – A Garland of May (2017), is a concept album celebrating the traditions and songs of May Day, demonstrating her deep connection to the cycles of the seasons.
A mesmerising live performer, Lisa Knapp has graced the stages of Cambridge Folk Festival, Celtic Connections and BBC Radio 2’s Folk Awards, where she was recognised for her contributions to the genre.
