About Indiana

Indiana is streaming her hotly anticipated debut album No Romeo in full via The Guardian, one week ahead of its release February 2nd on Epic.

Featured as Alexis Petridis’ Album Of The Week on The Guardian this week, No Romeo is described as “smart, inventive, thought-provoking pop music, and it deserves to be a hit”.

In addition, Indiana has announced a special album launch show which will take place at Oslo on January 30th, and a headline tour of the UK and Ireland in May.

Coinciding with the album release, Indiana returns to her breakout single ‘Solo Dancing’. Back on the BBC Radio 1 playlist, ‘Solo Dancing’ is hedonistically addictive dancefloor pop, a hypnotic narrative of self-empowerment set to decadent afterhours disco, slinky Italo synths and an earworm vocal hook.

The thirteen tracks that make up No Romeo explore a captivating spectrum of styles and moods, remaining individualistic and true to Indiana’s unique vision throughout. They assert her as a gifted storyteller, with songs of vivid narrative brought to life by the powerful emotional palette of her voice.
“With each song I immersed myself in to a role and pushed the boundaries I dared not to in real life,” says Indiana. “The more I wrote, the more I discovered about myself. What started out as an emotional outlet had turned into my life and with each day I was growing as an artist. The title is a pseudonym I have given to myself. These may appear to be love songs but look closer, chip away their exterior beauty and reveal an inner darkness. I am No Romeo.”

Sparkling Scandinavian dance pop (‘Heart On Fire’, ‘Solo Dancing’) spellbinding future-addled lullabies (‘Shadow Flash’, ‘New Heart’), visceral, crashing crescendos (‘Never Born’, ‘Mess Around’), slinky future r&b (‘Bound’, ‘Jack’) and majestically arching ballads (‘Blind As I Am’, ‘Only The Lonely’) coalesce seamlessly on No Romeo to form one of this years most compelling and addictive alternative pop propositions.
