The Primitives are the UK indie-pop darlings best known for their shimmering 1988 hit "Crash." Formed in Coventry in the mid-1980s, the band burst onto the scene with their infectious blend of jangly guitars, breezy melodies, and the effortlessly cool vocals of frontwoman Tracy Tracy.
Their debut album, Lovely (1988), became an instant classic of the indie-pop and jangle-pop era, featuring fan favourites like "Crash," "Out of Reach," and "Way Behind Me." With a sound that bridged the gap between the raw energy of punk and the dreamy sweetness of '60s pop, The Primitives found themselves at the forefront of the late-'80s indie scene.
Though they disbanded in the early '90s, the band reunited in 2009 and have since continued to tour and release new music, including the albums Echoes and Rhymes (2012) and Spin-O-Rama (2014).
