About Wild Beasts

Wild Beasts is the sublime indie rock band from Kendall, England. The four piece is made up of guitarist Benny Little, Hayden Thorpe also playing guitar and singing falsetto, bassist Tom Fleming on tenor and Chris Talbot providing percussion and baritone.

Enigmatic and charming, this leftfield band have managed to reach wide audiences by writing intelligent music that excites the curiosity through their creativity and stands them apart.

They signed to Bad Sneaker Records in August 2006 and released their single Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants in November. The upbeat quirky song saw the band reach #17 in the UK Indie Charts. The band also recorded a live session on Marc Riley’s BBC Radio 6 Music show Brain Surgery the same month as the singles release.

They were quickly snatched up by ace indie label Domino Records and became named by NME as one of their bands tipped for the top in 2007. The band released their debut album; Limbo, Panto, the following year which saw them widen their audience massively.

But it was the release of their second album Two Dancers in 2009 which really saw the band up their game. Massively critically acclaimed, it was declared Album Of The Year by The Fly and narrowly missed out winning the same by polls in The Guardian, Drowned In Sound and NME. Notably, it was also nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.

In 2011 they won the London Awards For Art And Performance. They also released their third album Smother which hit #17 in the album charts. The band has continued to develop and the 2014 album Present Tense reached #10 in the album charts.

Their new album Boy King will be out soon. It marks the band exploring darker territory and unleash their anger through music. The content is visceral and more experimental, seeing the band tap into the seedier side of the ever digitized modern world which looks to amplify and satisfy lust with only one swipe.

I think Boy King is an apocalyptic record. It's about swimming in the abyss. When you think about sex, you've got to think about death, they're one and the same. ” - Hayden Thorpe
