Gabrielle Aplin is an English singer-songwriter born on 10 October 1992 in Chippenham, Wiltshire, whose songwriting merges folk roots, shimmering pop-melodies and authentic emotional expression. She first drew attention by posting acoustic covers to YouTube, and in 2012 signed with Parlophone Records. That same year her version of “The Power of Love” became the soundtrack to the John Lewis Christmas advert and claimed the top position on the UK Singles Chart.
Her debut studio album English Rain (2013) entered the UK charts at No. 2 and has since achieved gold-certification, firmly establishing her as a major voice in modern British songwriting. Subsequent albums such as Light Up the Dark (2015), Dear Happy (2020) and Phosphorescent (2023) reflect her evolving artistry—from stripped-back vocals and guitar to richer production and expansive pop textures. Through self-releasing via her own label Never Fade Records and collaborating widely, Gabrielle Aplin continues to craft songs that feel both intimate and timeless.
