Blending indie folk with world music influences, Beirut is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Zach Condon. With a sound that feels both timeless and cinematic, the band draws inspiration from Balkan brass, French chanson, and Latin rhythms, crafting lush, orchestral compositions that transport listeners across borders and eras.
Breaking through with Gulag Orkestar (2006), Beirut introduced the world to its unique fusion of soaring trumpets, accordion swells, and melancholic melodies. Albums like The Flying Club Cup (2007) and The Rip Tide (2011) cemented Condon’s reputation as a musical wanderer, weaving intricate arrangements with his rich, yearning vocals.
After a brief hiatus, Beirut returned with Gallipoli (2019), an album that captured the essence of Condon’s global influences and deeply personal songwriting.
