About Blitz Kids

This punchy, energetic band has earned their chops supporting major names and playing festivals. This month, they have announced that they are to part company after nine years, so the final few Blitz Kids tour dates will quite literally be the last chance to catch this band in action before they head off in different directions to pursue other interests. At Gigantic, we’re sorry to see them go as they’ve been favourites of ours for years, but fortunately there are still Blitz Kids concert tickets available for their final gigs.

While the most current gig (originally scheduled for July 27th at the Bristol Exchange) has been cancelled, there are still just three chances left to catch the band. They play the Breakout Festival in Brighton on September 26th, Manchester’s Academy 3 on October 9th (contact the venue for tickets), and finally The Dome in London on October 10th. As these will be their farewell gigs we expect demand for Blitz Kids tickets to be particularly high, so you’ll need to book now if you want a chance to catch them before it’s too late.

Originally gigging under the name of ‘Rig Up Explosive’, the band changed its name in 2009. They went on to release two albums, ‘Scavangers’ (a mini-album), and ‘Vagrants and Vagabonds’, their first full-length album. They also released an EP entitled ‘Decisions’. After a change in line-up, a third EP quickly followed called ‘Never Die’, and by now the band was building up a strong following on the festival circuit, with appearances at the Red Bull stage at Sonisphere Festival UK in 2010 and the Hevy Festival the same year. They then gathered up even more of a following after their appearance at the Introducing Stage at Slam Dunk in 2011, as well as Download Festival in the summer of 2011. They also played Radstock Festival in Liverpool in March 2013.

In 2013 they also released their second album ‘The Good Youth’, but the album never really got the exposure it deserved. In July of this year the band decided to call it a day, and are parting company on good terms to work on other projects.

As a result, after October there will be no more opportunities to see this feisty, energetic ensemble. So if you want to catch them before they’re gone it’s time to book up some Blitz Kids concert tickets from Gigantic now.
